Councillor Frank Royal

Frank Royal attended Moose Woods School on Whitecap Dakota Nation, Prince Albert Indian residential School and graduated grade 8 from Brunskill school, in Saskatoon. He graduated from Nutana Collegiate in 1982 and went on to pursue pre-employment machine shop program and sheet metal apprenticeship program at Kelsey Campus. From there he furthered his education by completing a certificate in Business Administration and completed the land management program in 1995 and 1996, respectively. Learning has been ongoing, as he received a certificate in hospitality, tourism and entertainment gaming management in 2019 and he is currently enrolled in the Dakota Language Program through the University of Minnesota.

Councillor Royal started his working career in sheet metal work in 1984 until 1991. In 1995 he was Community Projects Coordinator, Housing Coordinator, Lands Manager, Membership clerk and Recreation Coordinator for WDFN until 2000. Experience from these positions led him to run for Council in 2000, where he served until 2016. After a short-term break, Councillor Royal let his name stand for re-election and was chosen to continue serving in 2020.

 In his free time he enjoys playing golf, watching sports, spending time with his family and sharing language and culture with others.
