Community Wellbeing

The WDFN Community Wellbeing Program focus' on family and community support programs and services that are rooted in Dakota values: love, respect, generosity, honesty, humility, bravery, wisdom, patience, compassion and fortitude.

The goal of community wellbeing is to promote healthy families and build capacity in families by offering services that include:

- Connecting families, children, and youth to supports/ resources

- Assisting with referrals to other agencies, services, and programs.

- Supporting families through cultural connections and language.

- Supporting families during assessments and advocating for support services.

- Supporting community links with community resources (Health staff, mental health, Jordan's Principle, Justice, Education, Band office, municipally, provincially, and federally).

- Attending case conferences (school, justice) and supporting and assisting with action-plans that are brought forward from case conferences.

- Being available to provide emotional support during times of crisis.

- Assisting families who are at risk in finding appropriate respite or babysitting for children/youth.

- Mentoring and providing in-home parenting support to at risk families.

- Facilitating parenting and wellbeing workshops and events.

- Organizing community activities and events.
