Nurse Practitioner:
The Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with additional education that enables them to diagnose and treat illnesses, order, and interpret tests, prescribe medications, refer to specialists and perform certain medical procedures.
NP's treat the whole person, an approach that includes:
-addressing needs relating to a person's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health,
-seeing the client/provider relationship as a team-based relationship,
-focusing on how an illness affects a person's life and family, and
-offering information on ways for a person to lead a healthy life, what various tests and results mean, disease processes, and how medications and treatments work to benefit clients, what ongoing processes will be in place for people with long term health needs.
The NP is available at Whitecap Health Center Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 4.30 pm (Excluding statutory holidays.)
