About Us

Whitecap is a modern and progressive First Nation with a proud culture, a strong sense of community and a keen interest in establishing mutually beneficial relationships in support of our exciting economic development plans.

The Whitecap Dakota people have a tradition of being hard working and self supporting. Reserve creation has restricted our ability to continue this tradition but through diligence and partnerships we continue to make progress.

In 1994, we constructed our fire hall and established our volunteer fire department. We build our beautiful elementary school, which features traditional Dakota design elements. In 1996, the same year our new sewer and water infrastructure became operational. Our sports grounds and sports centre, constructed to serve approximately 3,000 athletes who participated in the 1997 First Nation Summer Games, continues to be a great asset to the people of our community. In 2000, we opened our health clinic.

We believe we offer great opportunity for our people and our business partners. We invite you to learn more about us.
